Delivered and renamed Jolly Clivia, the fifth container ship of Ignazio Messina & C.

Jolly Clivia is the newly acquired name for the latest container ship (the fifth recently purchased) that has just joined the fleet of the Genoese shipping company Ignazio Messina & C.

A note informs that "the change of ownership took place at the port of Singapore, and the new unit, measuring 262 meters in length and 32 meters in width, will set sail towards Europe with stops first at Mundra (India), then at Jebel Ali Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Karachi (Pakistan), before arriving in Genoa at the end of March and being included in the regular line between the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, the Middle East, and India. The crew consists of 22 members, 16 of whom are Italian, including Commander Simone Galli from Naples."

The Jolly Clivia has also been registered in Madeira and will therefore fly the Portuguese flag, just like the new entries Jolly Oro and Jolly Argento, while Jolly Gada and Jolly Rosa have been registered under the Italian flag.

Built in 2010 at the South Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, the Jolly Clivia (formerly ALS Clivia) was owned by the German company ASL Clivia, part of the Asiatic Lloyd Shipping group based in Singapore. The ship can carry 4,400 TEU containers, was purchased for just over $20 million, and joins the four full-container units acquired in recent months by the Genoese group, all ranging between 4,400 and 4,600 TEU in capacity.

Regarding Ignazio Messina & C., in recent days the President of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, held a video conference with the top management of the Genoese shipping company, expressing appreciation for the increasing number of ships from the Italian liner that traverse the waterway despite the challenges and concerns of crossing the Red Sea. Also participating in the summit were CEO Ignazio Messina, Vice President Stefano Messina, Ibrahim Taha, and Mohamed Koptan, respectively President and General Manager of Ocean Express Shipping Co., the maritime agency representing the Messina group in Egypt.

Ignazio Messina expressed the company's willingness to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Suez Canal Authority in the field of logistics services, strengthening the position of the Suez Canal and supporting its transformation into a regional center for the provision of maritime and logistical services in the Middle East and Africa. Messina confirmed that the company intends to increase its traffic through the Suez Canal soon as part of the group's policy to expand its operations and introduce large-capacity container ships on routes with the Middle East and Africa.
